UK MP sues Elon Musks xAI over Groks sexualised deepfakes
UK MP sues Elon Musk’s xAI over Grok’s sexualised deepfakes

British Labour MP Jess Asato has taken Elon Musk’s AI company xAI to London’s High Court — and she wants Grok’s chatbot permanently banned from generating sexualised images of her.

The trouble started in January, after Asato publicly slammed Musk and Grok. Soon after, fake explicit content of her began circulating online, including a disturbing video showing her being drugged and set up for assault.

Now she’s fighting back. Asato has filed a lawsuit accusing xAI of misusing her private data and breaching UK data protection laws — arguing the abuse wasn’t a glitch, but baked into how Grok was built and trained.

Her legal team says leaked internal prompts show Grok was told not to help with obvious crimes — but was also told it faced “no restrictions” on adult content. That gap, they argue, is exactly what let the abuse happen.

If Asato wins, it could be a first: AI developers held legally responsible for how their chatbots are designed, not just how users misuse them.

xAI hasn’t responded to the lawsuit yet.

Musk has previously blasted UK internet laws as too strict. This isn’t Grok’s only headache — similar cases are already running in the US and Netherlands, with Baltimore also suing over the same issue. The case could reshape how AI chatbots are regulated worldwide.
