King Charles and Kate Middleton have walked the same difficult path since Queen Elizabeth’s passing, from new titles to new scrutiny, as they put on a brave face during private and public duty.

Their bond deepened even further in 2024, when both faced a cancer diagnosis. In that brutally hard chapter, they leaned on each other with strength and patience to get through it.
And when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made public claims about senior royals in interviews, and the Duke released Spare after stepping back from royal life, it drew Charles and Kate even closer.

Recently, King Charles put the Waleses to the test with a surprise gesture, inviting Prince Harry and Meghan to the royal residence where Queen Camilla was also in attendance as the central figure.
Yet the future monarch and Catherine’s absence from the meeting spoke volumes. In stepping back, they showed that King Charles had made a choice — to honour the divide between the Waleses and the Sussexes, and to respect the boundaries that now define both couples.
Despite this all, William and Kate remain one of King Charles’ most beloved family members and the monarchy’s greatest asset.
Catherine continues her royal duty with a great deal of grace and dignity as the King and the late queen adored her.
King Charles sees enormous value in Princess Catherine and Prince William. He will never turn his back on the couple even if Harry and Meghan return to the royal fold.
