Bethenny Frankel has revealed she was previously misdiagnosed with a serious health condition, urging fans to be thorough about seeking second opinions after a new round of testing turned up different results than she’d been told before.
In a video posted Monday, the Real Housewives of New York Cityalum explained she had recently joined a medical programme that cross-references lab results and health markers across multiple specialists, describing it as functioning “sorta like” a Mayo Clinic-style model but delivered through a network of at-home and in-person facilities.
“It has teams of doctors that sort of cross-reference your markers, your labs… longevity,” she said, adding that the programme also reviews supplements patients are taking that may not actually be beneficial for them.
Frankel didn’t specify what condition she’d previously been diagnosed with or what the corrected diagnosis turned out to be, saying only: “They have said that I have been misdiagnosed with something pretty major… be very thorough in your labs, your checkups, your second, third opinions, like, your crowdsourcing of opinions.”
Frankel, 55, has been candid about her health in the past, revealing in January that she’d been diagnosed with stage 2 chronic kidney disease following months of low kidney function readings across routine blood tests.
At the time, she said her doctor suggested the condition could be linked to a severe fish allergy attack she experienced years earlier, potential autoimmune factors, or insufficient water intake, telling followers her doctor had informed her: “Water is your medicine.”
It remains unclear from her latest video whether the new “misdiagnosis” she referenced relates to that earlier kidney finding or a separate health matter altogether.
Frankel closed her message by encouraging her audience to take health screenings seriously, framing the update as a cautionary tale rather than cause for alarm about her own condition specifically.
