The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an update on white rice recall which was first announced in April 2026.
Lundberg Family Farms recalled over 27,000 packages of its White Jasmine Rice over potential contamination risks with foreign materials, as stated in the FDA’s recent recall notice.
The product was supplied to vendors packaged in 2-pound bags.
As per the recent recall notice from FDA, the items carried the Universal Product Code of 073416-040281.
The affected lot codes are 260201MA with an expiry date of February 1, 2027, and 260202MA with an expiry date of February 2, 2027.
The FD update observed that the rice was supplied in California, Florida, Illinois, Connecticut, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Washington, Virginia and Wisconsin.
The product is commonly found at major retailers like Walmart, Wegmans, Target, Whole Foods and Giant.
The Lundbrg Family Farms issued a statement to People on August 29 that read, “The affected product was removed from store shelves several months ago,” adding “The incident was isolated to a single production run, and no illnesses were reported from consumption of the affected product.”
The FDA has officially classified the recall as Class II, which affects a product that “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” or where the risk of serious health effects is low, as stated on the agency’s website.
