Prince Harry’s return to Britain seemed to have complicated things for the charity organisation dedicated to the late Princess of Wales.
Princess Diana, who died 29 years ago on August 31 in a fatal car crash in Paris, is honoured every year by her two sons. Prince William and Harry have carried on their mother’s legacy in their own ways, inspired by the values taught by her.
Sadly, the brothers who were once each other’s anchor are now not even on speaking terms. They have zero ties together, but they both are patrons of the Diana Award charity that honours young people achievements every year.
After the rift, Harry and William have been taking turns on leading the events for the awards. This year is Harry’s turn, but next year will be a milestone ceremony. It is understood they both would like to be involved in the 30th death anniversary event.
While there is speculation over whether Harry and William will attend, a spokesperson for the charity shared an update on the matter.
“The Diana Award is at the early stages of considering how it may mark the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death next year,” he said.
“No plans have been agreed, no event has been confirmed, and no decisions have been made regarding attendance or participation.”
For this year, sources revealed that people at Kensington Palace were “uneasy” about the prospect of Meghan attending the event this year. The save-the-date cards have already been sent out, so it remains to be seen how things will pan out.
