BLACKPINK’s Lisa is opening up about a side of K-pop stardom she rarely discusses: her romantic life.
In her upcoming documentary Always Lalisa, she candidly reflects on the pressure for a K-pop idol surrounding dating and why she had to hide her relationships during the group’s rise.
“We can’t really date. If you’re seeing someone and you get caught by paparazzi, your popularity drops,” the rapper and singer stated.
She revealed having several relationships when she was younger but deliberately kept them out of the public eye.
Lisa, born Lalisa Manobal, went on to explain why she chose secrecy, saying, “I didn’t want my dating to be the thing that hurts BLACKPINK’s popularity.”
Her comments offer a glimpse into the intense expectations placed on K-pop idols, particularly when their personal lives can become the subject of intense fan and media scrutiny.
Although, the 29-year-old never publicly identified any of her former partners her love life has generated plenty of speculation over the years.
She has been romantically linked to Frédéric Arnault, the LVMH heir, since around 2023, although neither publicly confirmed their relationship.
More recently, dating rumours linked her to Thai actor Blue Pongtiwat, following reported sightings of the pair together.
Around 2019, netizens frequently shipped her with former YG Entertainment idol One (also known as Jung Jaewon / Jaewon).
Older rumours have involved various idols (including Jungkook in some theories), but none of these have been verified.
Additionally, Always Lalisa directed by Sue Kim follows the BLACKPINK star through a transformative period of her solo career.
It is set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11, before arriving in theaters and IMAX worldwide on October 12 and later streaming on YouTube Premium.
