Prince William and Prince Harry have maintained their silence on the matter as their uncle Charles Spencer delivers hit after hit to their father King Charles.
Princess Diana’s younger brother, who has written an explosive memoir dedicated to the beloved public figure, sat down for an interview with the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg and seemed to have dragged both princes into the narrative.
Many of the claims made in the excerpts from the forthcoming book have been jarring, mostly directed at the then-Prince Charles. This was evident in how Buckingham Palace issued a unprecedented statement to share an newer version of ‘recollections may vary’.
However, the Earl of Spencer insisted that both his nephews would not be surprised by the bombshell revelations.
When asked how these allegations would stir up pain and anguish for the princes, three decades after they lost their mother, the Earl suggested that this was not something that they didn’t already know about.
“I don’t like to talk about what I’ve been speaking about to William and Harry but this will not be a surprise to them I will tell you that,” he said. “These words will not be a surprise to them.”
This is likely to leave Harry and William in a difficult spot with King Charles. Harry has been making efforts to reconcile with his father, whereas William has responsibility as the heir to the throne to work in harmony with the monarch.
