Demi Moore shares what motherhood has taught her

Demi Moore says her daughters have been some of her greatest teachers — even if motherhood has come with a few lessons she didn’t exactly sign up for.

Speaking with Ali Larter at Step Up’s 2026 Annual Inspiration Awardsin Los Angeles on September 25, the 63-year-old actress reflected on how Rumer, Scout and Tallulah Willis have shaped her outlook.

“I feel like I’ve learned from day one about acceptance. I think that the greatest gift that they have given me is a foundation of love,” Moore said.

The Substance star, who shares her daughters with ex-husband Bruce Willis, also opened up about growing up without much stability.

“I didn’t grow up with a very stable childhood,” she said, before explaining how her children’s acceptance has affected her.

“And being able to have my children see and accept me for who I am, they are, as always, our greatest teachers, our biggest challenges, dare I say,” Moore continued. “But I think that’s it.”

Tallulah, who was at the event, has previously spoken about her admiration for her mother. “I don’t think my mom was raised, she was forged,” she said on Red Table Talk in 2019.

“You know, like, she was made. And the strength that comes from that is intimidating, and it’s scary.”

Moore has also said that parenting means knowing when to step back.

“For me, I feel like my job is just to love my children and to give them the room to be who they are,” she told The Jennifer Hudson Showin 2024.

“Rescuing our children, which is our intuitive instinct, isn’t always the best thing. You have to give them the room.”
