Tom Brady reportedly took an 11-day break from football in a last-ditch effort to save his marriage to Gisele Bündchen — but the reunion allegedly left him devastated.
The NFL star was excused from Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp in 2022 to meet Bündchen at a private resort in the Bahamas, according to Lars Anderson’s upcoming book, Brady: An American Storyand the Price of Greatness.
“I’ve got to take care of some personal things,” Brady reportedly told coach Clyde Christensen before leaving.

One assistant coach recalled: “Tom didn’t know what the heck was going on,” adding, “And we didn’t know if he was ever coming back.”
Christensen said Brady seemed changed when he returned. “Tom was an empty shell of who he was when he got back,” he said. “There was no joy. Everything was hard work.”
The book describes years of tension over Brady’s football career and Bündchen’s wish for more family time.
After the Patriots’ 2017 Super Bowl win, she reportedly asked, “Would now be the perfect time to retire?” Brady’s alleged response: “Too bad, babe. I’m having too much fun right now.”
Anderson also recounts Bündchen’s handwritten letter asking for more help with their children and more time for her own career.
The couple ultimately announced their divorce on October 28, 2022, after 13 years of marriage.
An insider quoted in the book claims Bündchen eventually told Brady, “We’re not compatible,” after consulting an astrology book.
The exes share Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13. Bündchen later married Joaquim Valente and they have a son together.
