FDA recalls over half a million eye drops over possible sterility issues: see full list

Thousands of eyedrop bottles, sold at popular retailers, are being recalled by the FDA over concerns that these drops might not be sterile.

The recall was initiated on August 20, 2026, by Sterling Pharmaceutical Services LLC, headquartered in Dupo, Illinois.

A month later, the Federal Drug Administration placed the recall as a Class II category on September 21.

Class II is defined by the FDA as exposure that “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious health consequences is remote.”

The FDA listed 9 products in its recall notice, including lubricant eye drops, a hypertonicity eye solution, and a nighttime eye ointment.

The FDA urged the consumers to check the product name, lot number and expiration to know beforehand if they have purchased a recalled product.

Here’s the list of nine affected products totaling 747,844 units.
