Tomi Adeyemi has shared the painful reason she no longer wants to talk about the film version of Children of Blood and Bone.
The bestselling author said making the movie got the hardest experience of her life and left her struggling even after filming ended.
After staying quiet for more than a year, Adeyemi posted an emotional video on social media where she talked about what she went through.
The author, however, explained that she kept everything to herself for a long time but finally felt ready to tell people why the project affected her so deeply.
Adeyemi, who also helped write the movie, said she left the production crying and feeling completely overwhelmed.
After returning to US, she said she started having serious panic attacks and other physical problems as she even felt she would never be able to watch the finished film.
The writer said that nothing really changed and she continued to have a difficult time while the film moved closer to its release.
Even so, she said she does not want to share every detail about what happened as her main reason for speaking now was to help people understand why she no longer wants to discuss the movie.
The movie, moreover, is still expected to be released on January 15.
