Prince William once said that he is a “stubborn optimist” whilst talking about how the Earthshot Prize can make a different and protect the natural environment.
The Prince of Wales founded his initiative back in 2020 and held its inaugural event in London in 2021. With William’s passion project heading to Mumbai, India, for its sixth iteration, A-list actress Cate Blanchett shared an honest view about the future King’s mission.
In her latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, the Aussie actress deemed him as an “extraordinary leader” and a key trait that he has taken from his father King Charles.
“(He’s been) an extraordinary leader, very hands-on in a consistent and practically engaged way,” she said. “He has inherited that interest (from the King). He’s grown up with it.”
The Black Bag actress has joined Prince William on several engagements before including a visit to Norwich last June as they learned how 2023 Earthshot Prize finalist, Colorifix, has been making sustainable clothing dyes.
During the visit they learned about the DNA sequencing of natural colours and Cate said that it had “certainly been an education in colour and what is possible.”
Before Prince William took on his fierce agenda to achieve something for the planet, Charles had been a strong advocate for the cause.
The heir to the throne had also noted that when his father had begun talking about it, it was rare and quite challenging to bring the attention of the public and world leaders on the matter. It was this value instilled in him that has allowed William to carry on the fight his father had sown the seed for.
