Shawn Mendes has officially taken his romance with Bruna Marquezine out of the rumour mill and onto Instagram.
The Grammy-nominated singer marked the Brazilian actress’s 31st birthday with a heartfelt tribute that doubled as the couple’s biggest public relationship reveal yet.
“Feliz aniversário my baby,” Mendes wrote. “You are a light and a mãe in every room you walk into. Not to be tooooo sappy but you’ve truly changed my life, and I am so so grateful for you.”
He ended the message on Portugese, writing, “Eu te amo muito muito muitoo,” meaning “I love you so, so, so much,” before adding, “We all do amor…”
Instead of glamorous red carpets, Mendes filled the post with clips from Casa Amarela Providência in Rio de Janeiro, where Marquezine celebrated alongside local children.
One video showed youngsters rushing to hug her, while another captured her dancing and singing as they appeared to serenade her with ‘Happy Birthday.”
Mendes also shared a smiling photo of the two together on Instagram stories.
The pair first sparked dating rumours late last year and have since been spotted together across Brazil and the US, but neither had publicly confirmed the relationship until now.
The post also marks a new chapter for Mendes, who previously dated Camila Cabello and was briefly linked to Sabrina Carpenter.
Speaking about love during a 2024 concert, the singer explained why he’s stopped chasing perfection.
“When you’re single, there’s this pressure of looking for ‘The One,’ who’s ‘The One?’… Damn, that’s a lot of pressure to put on someone when you first start dating.”
“For me, I’ve just been trying to take that pressure off… We all need a little bit of cuddling, a little bit of hugging.”
