Aaron Farinacci, the 37-year-old suspect in Washington’s Old Trails Fire in Spokane County, was arrested on an arson charge.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff John Nowels, Aaron F. Farianacci was detained on Monday afternoon, August 3, and is held in captivity at a bond of $1 million.
The court data shows Farianacci had been convicted of a first-degree felony charge a decade ago.
Ferianacci, back in October 2010, pleaded guilty to shooting and killing his father over a domestic issue.
The scuffle at a dining table over doing the dishes led to Farianacci, then 21, opening fire on his father, the court records revealed.
The Old Trails Fire, started on Saturday afternoon, August 1, is one of three blazes in Spokane County as firefighters are scrambling to contain the blaze.
Fire officials from Spokane County said the cause of the fires is unclear, with the preliminary probe under progress at the sheriff’ office.
Fariannacci’s arrest came after a bystander alerted the officials about noticing the presence of a man “bending down near some grass,” Sheriff Nowels added.
Officers responding to the call made contact with Farinacci in the area shortly after the fire engulfed the area on Saturday, August 1.
The deputies recovered waterproof matches and a butane lighter from Farinacci, who was “detained, questioned and ultimately released,” said Sheriff Nowels.
