A horror movie poster has been banned from the London Underground after people said it was too upsetting to look at.
Many also worried that young children could see it while travelling with their families.
The poster was made to promote Lee Cronin’s The Mummy as it showed the face of a young girl who looked dead, with grey skin, cracked lips and mummy wrapping across part of her head.
The image, however, quickly caught people’s attention but not for the right reasons.
Around 30 people complained to the Advertising Standards Authority, saying the poster was too disturbing for public places.
Warner Bros defended the advert and said it was made responsibly. The studio, moreover, added that there was no violence or scary action in the picture and argued that the girl’s face showed no emotion.
It also pointed out that Transport for London’s advertising partner approved the poster before it was displayed.
The Advertising Standards Authority reached a different decision.
It said many people would see the picture as a real dead child because of the way the girl looked.
Because of that, the authority ruled that the advert could upset young children and should not appear in public places.
