Reese Witherspoon has a reassuring update for everyone who was worried about her dad.
The actress revealed Friday that her father, John Witherspoon, is doing well after being hospitalized following a fall.
“Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall,” Witherspoon wrote on Instagram Stories on August 7.
“I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses.”
She also thanked those who reached out to the family during the scare.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out,” she added. “It means the world to our family.”
A spokesperson for Nashville Metro Emergency Communications told People magazine that officials received a call about an unconscious man on Friday. He was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital.
John, 84, is an otolaryngologist and previously served in the U.S. Army. During his service, the family lived in Wiesbaden, Germany, while he was stationed there as a lieutenant colonel in the Army Reserve.
John and Reese’s mother, Betty, met while studying medicine at the University of Tennessee. Although they separated in 1996, they later reconciled and were living together again by 2018.
The couple has also been there for Reese throughout her Hollywood journey. They joined their daughter at the 2006 Academy Awards, where she won Best Actress for Walk the Line.
For now, Reese’s message is the update her family wanted everyone to hear: Dad is fine, and he’s in good hands.
