Chance the Rapper has already collected Grammys, released a career-defining album and built a nonprofit helping thousands of Chicago kids.
But apparently, the bucket list is still very much alive.
As he prepares to launch his Coloring Book10-year anniversary tour on August 8, the rapper opened up to People magazineabout what he still wants to accomplish — and a Super Bowl appearance is firmly at the top.
“I would love to play the Super Bowl before I get up out of here,” he said.
“That’s always been a goal since I was a kid. I would love to learn or to master an instrument. I’m just a novice at random things from high school, but I would love to expand my creativity and being able to actually play guitar, actually play piano.”
“Oh, and doing a tour of Africa,” he adds, after recently returning from Kenya with his daughters. “Those are my top three right there.”
The goals come as Chance celebrates the album that changed his career.
Coloring Bookmade him the first streaming-only artist to win a Grammy, earning three trophies in 2017.
But revisiting the album at 33 has given him a different perspective. At 23, he was newly navigating fatherhood and exploring his faith as an adult.
“Now, things change consistently,” he continues. “I’m not the same as I used to be and nothing — especially relationships, but nothing really stays the same.”
Chance says every track from Coloring Bookwill make the anniversary tour, which runs through October 11.
And after a decade of career highs, his proudest achievement isn’t a trophy.
“It’s the ability to wake up and do it and to be uncomfortable and be myself consistently. That’s what I’m proud of and that’s what allows me to keep going.”
