The X-Menare officially assembling — and Marvel just added a very unexpected name to the mutant lineup.
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige unveiled more of the cast for the upcoming X-Men movie, giving fans their first major look at the next generation of mutants.
Sadie Sink, whose role as Jean Grey was revealed in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, will be joined by Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost.
Feige also introduced Maya Boyd as Storm, Inde Navarrette as Rogue and Christopher Abbott as Professor X, with Jake Schreier directing.
But the biggest surprise came from Adam Driver.
The Star Warsalum is joining the MCU as X-Men villain Mister Sinister. Appearing by video from a film studio, Driver said he and Feige had been discussing an MCU role for years.
“Kevin and I have been talking for years about me joining the MCU,” Driver said. “Now I feel like we’ve found the perfect film, at the perfect film, with characters I care deeply about.”
The new cast takes over characters previously played by stars including James Marsden, Halle Berry, Famke Janssen and Sophie Turner.
Marvel has already been blending the classic X-Men universe into the MCU. Patrick Stewart returned as Professor X, Kelsey Grammer reprised Beast and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool teamed up with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
That crossover continues in Avengers: Doomsday, which is expected to feature several returning X-Men stars.
For now, the new generation has its marching orders. Marvel’s X-Menis scheduled to hit theaters May 5, 2028 — giving fans plenty of time to prepare for mutant chaos.
