Buckingham Palace chose to highlight a rare side of Princess Royal this year as she celebrates her special day, with a renewed conviction towards her royal duties.
King Charles’s hardworking sister is not only marking her 76th birthday on Saturday, but it is understood that she has no plans for retirement in the near future.
The King’s Office shared a delightful greeting for the royal.
“Wishing a Happy Birthday to The Princess Royal” alongside a cake emoji.
The portrait that accompanied the message was from the rare moment that captured the hearts of royal fans earlier this year.
Princess Anne, who is the patron Scottish Rugby, had seemingly dodged a hug from Scottish Rugby player Sione Tuipulotu in February and it went viral.
However, just three weeks later, the pair went viral again, this time, having a playful moment when Sione finally receives a hug from the royal as he accepted the trophy in the Six Nations Championship.
Initially, it was claimed that Anne has avoided a hug with the rugby player due to a long-standing royal rule that does not permits senior members to hug the public. Princess Kate has long ignored the rule and so has Prince William.
King Charles has also taken chances to forego the condition but Anne has remained poised.
Often known for her ‘no-nonsense’ attitude and being a stickler for the rules, the moment is a reflection of the light-hearted side that the public does not often see of Anne.
