Zara Tindall chose the perfect day to make her mother Princess Anne proud with an incredible new win.
Just like her mother, Zara is an Olympic equestrian, who participated in the Hartpury International Horse Trials and the British Championships on Saturday, the same day Anne marked her 76th birthday.
Zara had been riding the 17-year-old Class Affair and ended up winning gold, which is a prize pot of £5,000, at the competition. Even though her family was not with her at the moment, it is understood that they were all very happy and proud.
Back in 2006, at the World Equestrian Games, Zara had one the individual medal. Now, she is back again winning as she also attended the opening of the Games in 2026. She was at the event’s opening ceremony, alongside other European royals.
After winning the prize, Zara shared that she did not expect it to go the way it did. She said she was “super happy”. She joked how she couldn’t win at Gatcombe so this was “amazing”.
Despite no royals being in attendance at the event, the mum of three was excited and seen having the best time.
“Zara was in a crazy mood, she seemed super happy, smiling as she jumped over the jumps, even going ‘Whee’, she was smiling and beaming, kissing the horse,” one onlooker told Hello!.
“She’s taken this horse, who is on the downward trend, and taken him to glory in the British Open championships.”
