Human remains were found in a desert yesterday in an area approximately 15 miles from the home of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of the Today Show Host Savannah Guthrie. The remains were located while the sheriff’s office is actively investigating the disappearance of 84-year old Nancy.
Guthrie was last seen leaving her home on February 1, 2026, when she was reported missing.
Pima County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that human remains had been found in the desert but stated that based upon their preliminary investigation, there is no connection between the remains found and Nancy Guthrie.
Nancy Guthrie has been missing for over 6 months after she vanished from her home located in the foothills of Tucson’s Catalina Mountains.
In February of this year, investigators stated that they believed Guthrie was abducted and have been treating the case as an ongoing investigation.
At this time, authorities have declined to identify the deceased individual whose body was recovered.
When questioned about whether or not the discovery of the remains may be related to the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, officials cautioned against making such assumptions.
Although officials would not make a statement confirming if the remains were directly linked to the case, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department indicated they will continue their investigation into Nancy’s disappearance.
Nationwide attention has surrounded this case due to Nancy’s daughter Savannah, who is a host on the Today Show. Savannah has made repeated appeals for information regarding her mother’s disappearance, stating that her family is still experiencing “agony and despair” and pleading for individuals with information to step forward.
