The original Fast & Furious family reunited in Los Angeles to celebrate a major milestone.
Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster and Meadow Walker, daughter of the late Paul Walker, joined Tyrese Gibson and other cast members for a special anniversary screening of The Fast and the Furious at Directors Village in Westwood.
Notably, it’s been 25 years since the film that started one of Hollywood’s biggest action franchises was released.
Surrounded by classic cars and familiar faces from the franchise, the cast reflected on the movie that introduced audiences to the street-racing world of Dominic Toretto and Brian O’Conner and the lasting friendship between Diesel and Walker that grew beyond the screen.
Diesel fight back tears while remembering his late co-star, telling the crowd that 25 years earlier, he had been sitting in the same room with Walker.
“Twenty-five years ago I was sitting in this room, and I was sitting with Paul Walker,” he said and went on to describe Walker as a brother and reflected on the bond they shared both on and off screen.
“Any of you should ever have the blessing to have a brother like Paul,” Diesel continued. “And it’s the greatest gift God could have ever known.”
He then encouraged fans to watch the original movie with that friendship in mind, pointing to the moments that marked the beginning of their iconic on-screen brotherhood.
For the unversed, Walker died in a car crash in 2013 at the age of 40, but his presence has remained deeply woven into the Fast & Furious franchise and its cast.
His daughter Meadow’s appearance at the anniversary event added another emotional layer to the celebration.
The reunion comes as the original film prepares to return to theaters nationwide on August 21, and the cast is shooting for a new and seemingly the final chapter.
The next and last mainline film in the franchise is titled Fast Forever. Universal Pictures has scheduled its theatrical release for March 17, 2028.
