Princess Catherine’s sister Pippa Middleton could be forced into signing an eye-watering cheque as she her husband James Matthews face major dilemma about home.
Pippa and James, who live on their Berkshire estate, have received objections to their car park, which has been built without planning permission, especially after council chiefs rejected her appeal.
According to The Telegraph, in July, Pippa appealed to overturn the ruling but it was dismissed over taking away from the area’s “scenic beauty” and biodiversity.
Planners had objected that the car park and the hard standing brought “an urbanising and visually intrusive feature into a highly sensitive rural landscape within the North Wessex Downs National Landscape”.
They added, “Due to its size and engineered appearance, the development has introduced a visually intrusive and urbanised feature into an otherwise open meadow.”
“Ample parking already exists on the Barton Court estate,” one resident said. “Additional parking is unnecessary.”
Meanwhile, others cite a much more dangerous prospect of having floods on the property.
“Additional hardstanding will inevitably increase surface run-off, reduce flood storage capacity and worsen flooding.”
This comes after another complaint from the neighbours about the public footpath along their land. The previous owner, late Sir Terence Conron, o reportedly allowed locals to use Mill Lane.
However, Pippa and her husband closed off the route with “private” and “no trespassing”. The case in ongoing in the matter.
