Prince William, alongside Princess Anne, will be leading an emotional task at the behest of King Charles, in Oslo.
As crowds gather at the Oslo Cathedral to bid their final farewell to the King of Norway, who passed away on August 28, 2026, after reigning for 35 years.
The Prince of Wales, who had to navigate a tough schedule between two important milestone moment, is understood to have arrived in Oslo.
The Royal House of Norway released an update sharing a montage of the late monarch as tribute before the commencement of the ceremony.
“Today, King Harald V is laid to rest,” the Norwegian message read. “‘Yes, we love this country’ is performed by trumpeter Björn Nyman.”
The Prince of Wales, according to royal tradition will be representing the monarch as he did at the Pope Francis funeral last year. Meanwhile, Princess Anne, who is also the cousin to the late King, will be attending in a personal capacity as she is also the godmother of the new King Haakon.
The royals are reportedly being transported to the venue via s shuttle bus, where the British royals are joined by other members of the royal family.
King Philippe and Queen Mathilde of Belgium, Grand Duke Guillaume and Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg are also in attendance.
During the funeral service, the coffin will be lowered into the crypt of the Palace Chapel, where the sarcophagi of King Haakon, Queen Maud, King Olav and Crown Princess Märtha are also located, per the royal notice.
After the funeral, the Norway’s new king and queen will host a reception at the Royal Palace following the funeral service. Representatives of the official Norway, visiting heads of state, visiting royals and the family will attend.
