Earl Spencer expressed deep concerns over Prince Harry and his family’s security in the UK despite the known fact that the Duke is ‘fifth in line to the throne’ and served in the military.
Prince William’s uncle is currently in the headlines due to his book Swan Song: Diana, My Sister and the shocking claims in it.
Ahead of the book’s release, Spencer sat down with the BBC’sLaura Kuenssberg, discussing many elements, including his nephews, William and Harry.
For the unversed, Earl recalled how Charles, the then Prince of Wales, sounded like he won a lottery on hearing the news of Diana’s death.
Not only that, Spencer said that William and Harry won’t be surprised by the book’s content, meaning the royal brothers knew about it all.
Another important point raised by Earl Spencer was his nephew Prince Harry’s UK security.
He approved Harry and Meghan’s point of view that they need taxpayer-funded security amid threats and concerns.
Earl said, “I would say that I personally worry about the fifth in line to the throne who’s served in the military not having any police protection.
“As an uncle who’s seen his sister die in very, very preventable circumstances, I would veer towards protection.”
It is understood that Earl Spencer was asking the royals to avoid repeating the tragic history by providing needed security to the Sussexes.
