Andrew Garfield is reflecting on the unexpected internet frenzy surrounding his “slutty” appearance at the 2025 Golden Globes.
The Amazing Spider-Manstar said he was genuinely surprised by the reaction to his open-collared shirt and glasses, explaining that he simply adjusted his styling and felt he was already showing “too much skin.”
However, the moment quickly went viral, with fans interpreting his appearance as a deliberate thirst trap.
During a new episode of Vanity Fair‘s “Lie Detector Tests” series with Claire Foy, the 43-year-old was reminded of the viral 2025 instance.
“Did reactions online surprise you?” Foy asked, to which he replied, “Yes, they did.”
Garfield, who presented with Kerry Washington at the Golden Globes when he became an online sensation, clarified that all he did was put on his glasses and try to adjust the styling of his shirt.
His seemingly simple moves, however, were quickly dubbed “slutty” by fans online.
When The Social Network actor was called out for exhibiting signs of “deception” as Foy asked if he “intentionally wanted to thirst-trap audiences,” he responded “maybe retrospectively.”
Moreover, looking back, Garfield admitted there “might’ve been some unconscious desire to seduce” and acknowledged that, like anyone, he enjoys being considered attractive.
