Andrew Garfield has officially made peace with his long-hair era.
The Amazing Spider-Manstar has been turning heads since growing his hair out to a shoulder-length style.
By his own admission he did not only garnered online attention but some strong opinions in his personal life.
After making it through what he describes as the awkward stage, the Social Network actor is no longer questioning the look. In fact, he thinks his longer hair is “powerful.”
“I got through the awkward stage, and now I’m like, ‘I earned this. I’m going to enjoy it for as long as I can handle it,’” he stated.
The 43-year-old actor debuted the longer style in January, when he was spotted with shaggy blonde hair during a date night with his girlfriend Monica Barbaro at a Penn & Teller show in Las Vegas.
The transformation did not go unnoticed.
He later admitted to Entertainment Tonight that he had received “a lot of flak” for the new look in his private life, even revealing that he had been told, “Not allowed.”
Apparently, the opinions of others were not enough to convince him to reach for the scissors.
The attention surrounding his hair also became the subject of a playful conversation with Claire Foy, his costar in the 2017 film Breatheand their new movie The Magic Faraway Tree.
During a new episode of Vanity Fair’s Lie Detector Tests, Garfield was reminded of a viral 2025 Golden Globes moment involving his appearance, complete with glasses and an open-collared shirt.
The conversation soon turned to the Gen Z phrase “aura farming,” a slang term Merriam-Webster defines as the desire to look cool.
“It means, I think, anytime you do a public appearance, you’re aura farming,” he said.
Foy then took the teasing a step further, asking the We Live In Time actor whether he was “secretly happy about going viral for being hot.”
His response was refreshingly straightforward. “Who doesn’t want to be thought of as hot?” he replied.
