Andrew to miss first meeting with Eugenie’s newborn, Fergie makes sure she is by her side

Princess Eugenie’s newborn daughter has brought fresh joy to the York family, but her arrival could leave Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor facing a painful reality.

The former Duke of York may only get to meet his new grandchild through a screen.

Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank welcomed their third child in Lisbon on Monday, August 3.

While she has reportedly had her mother Sarah Ferguson by her side in Portugal following the birth, her father appears unlikely to receive the same opportunity to meet the new arrival in person.

Royal author Andrew Lownie, whose book Entitled: The Rise And Fall Of The House Of York examines the York family’s turbulent history, told the Daily Mail that Andrew would “likely” only see his new grandchild through FaceTime.

According to Lownie, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice are caught between their loyalty to their mother and father and the concerns of their husbands, whose families have been deeply troubled by the continuing controversy surrounding the former Duke and Duchess of York.

“The daughters are walking a tightrope,” Lownie said, describing them as torn between their devotion to their parents and pressure from their husbands.
