Anne Hathaway’s pregnancy has kept one particular item off her promotional checklist for her new film, Verity, an appearance on Hot Ones.
Speaking on the Talk of the Townsendspodcast while discussing the Colleen Hoover adaptation, Hathaway explained that she’d originally planned to take on the show’s spicy wings challenge as part of the film’s press tour, only for her doctor to intervene once she became pregnant.
“I thought that I was gonna be able to do the Hot Ones challenge to do press for this film because it just made sense,” Hathaway said.
“But then I got pregnant, and my doctor said I couldn’t do it because I might go into early labour. So I still haven’t done the gauntlet yet. I’m not sure when that’s going to happen. Maybe next year.”
The idea had taken on special significance for Hathaway given the plot of Verityitself, which follows a struggling writer hired to complete a paralysed author’s unfinished manuscript.
In the film, Hathaway’s character, Verity Crawford, is depicted being interviewed by both podcast host Alex Cooper on Call Her Daddyand Hot Oneshost Sean Evans as part of the character’s fictional rise to cultural prominence.
Hathaway explained how that creative decision came together during a production meeting, recalling asking, “Is that enough to establish Verityas an iconic cultural figure?” and thinking a real-life Hot Onesappearance to accompany the film’s release would complete what she called a “triple crown trifecta” alongside a Gayle King interview.
Hathaway announced in June that she and husband Adam Shulman are expecting their third child, the couple already share sons Jonathan, 10, and Jack, 6.
Verity, based on Colleen Hoover’s bestselling thriller, is out now, and Hathaway has had a packed 2026 slate of releases, also including Mother Mary, The Devil Wears Prada 2, The Odysseyand The End of Oak Street.
