The Bayeux Tapestry, a medieval masterpiece, has lived for nearly a millennium as a hand-crafted account of conquest that reshaped the course of history.
The medieval masterpiece is 70-meter-long, narrates the story of the historical fight for the British crown between William the Conqueror, a duke from Normandy, and the last Anglo-Saxon monarch, Harold II, also known as Harold Godwinson, which climaxed in the gruesome Battle of Hastings on October 14, 1066.
Over 100,000 tickets were already sold out in the week leading to the much-hyped exhibition.
The majestic tapestry was transported earlier this year to London after years of diplomatic efforts by the UK in a high-tech operation.
In the past, efforts were made twice, in 1953 and later in 1966, to loan the Bayeux Tapestry, but both proved unsuccessful.
The Bayeux Tapestry is presently being exhibited at the British Museum in London, and the exhibition will run through July 11, 2027.
