Dallas rapper BigXthaPlug was arrested in Texas on Friday, August 21, 2026. The rapper, whose real name is Xavier Landum, was arrested by the Allen Police Department and booked into the Collin County Jail.
Landum is accused of driving while intoxicated, possessing less than two ounces of marijuana and unlawfully possessing a firearm.
Authorities have not yet released detailed information about what led to the traffic stop or arrest.
What charges is BigXthaPlug facing?
The marijuana charge is a Class B misdemeanor under Texas law when the amount is two ounces or less. A conviction can carry up to 180 days in jail and a fine of up to $2,000.
The driving while intoxicated charge is also generally a Class B misdemeanor for a standard first offense. Texas law provides for a minimum 72-hour confinement, while the maximum punishment for a Class B misdemeanor is 180 days in jail and a $2,000 fine.
The firearm charge is potentially more serious. The unlawful possession charge reported by authorities is a Class A misdemeanor, which can carry up to one year in county jail and a fine of up to $4,000.
He has only been charged and has not been convicted of these offenses, which means it is not sure if he will recieve the full punishment for these charges.
Why is the gun charge important?
The firearm allegation is particularly notable because BigXthaPlug faced a similar case last year.
In August 2025, police arrested Landum after a traffic stop and accused him of unlawfully possessing a firearm and a small amount of marijuana. Police said a criminal database identified him as being connected to a gang in Arlington, which officers said meant he could not legally possess the firearm.
He was released from jail in that case after a $5,000 bond was set. His attorney at the time said the defense would wait for the affidavit and described the charges as misdemeanors.
Landum had also been arrested in February 2025 on a marijuana possession charge, although those charges were later dismissed. He previously faced drug and weapons charges in 2022 as well.
Meanwhile, the latest arrest has already affected the rapper’s schedule. He had been due to perform at Country Rising, but organizers said he would no longer appear because of a “personal emergency.”
