Fresh off the record-breaking success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, director Destin Daniel Cretton is already preparing for his next blockbuster adventure.
The American filmmaker is set to direct a live-action adaptation of Naruto.
Reportedly, the highly anticipated project is now officially in pre-production.
Such reports come as the 47-year-old continues to enjoy the success of the latest Spider-Manmovie, which has dominated the global box office since its July 31 release.
While he is gearing up for a trip into the world of ninjas, Marvel fans shouldn’t assume he’s leaving Spider-Manbehind.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently confirmed that the studio is already thinking about Spider-Man 5, signaling that Peter Parker’s story is far from over.
“There are always plans,” Feige said when discussing the future of the franchise.
Producer Amy Pascal also expressed confidence that Cretton could return to direct another Spider-Manfilm.
“If we have our way, he certainly will be,” Pascal said when asked whether the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings director would helm the next installment.
The filmmaker himself appeared equally enthusiastic about the possibility.
When asked if he would be interested in directing Spider-Man 5, Cretton responded simply: “Sure.”
While he is bringing one of the world’s most beloved manga and anime franchises to the big screen in live-action form, the Marvel Cinematic Universe door remains wide open for him.
