  • Court seeks Pinky’s medical report during next hearing.
  • Court orders authorities to produce accused on May 22.
  • Accused be interrogated in lady officer’s presence: court.

KARACHI: A Karachi court on Monday extended the physical remand of alleged drug dealer Anmol alias Pinky by four days in a murder case registered at Baghdadi police station.

Police said that a murder case was registered at Baghdadi police station against the suspect, who was first arrested on charges of running a “network of drug supply”.

In a written order, the judicial magistrate (South) directed authorities to produce Pinky again on May 22, along with a progress report.

The court further directed that the interrogation be conducted in the presence of a lady police officer.

The court further ordered that the accused must be presented before a lady medico-legal officer for examination if she complains of any torture, seeking a medical report on the next hearing.

During proceedings, the prosecution argued that the accused was nominated in a murder case and her mobile phone needed to be sent for forensic analysis.

The prosecution said that Pinky employed riders to supply drugs to her clients, asking the court for a 9-day remand.

The defence lawyer opposed the remand, arguing that there were fears the accused could be implicated in other cases and claimed she was being pressured to name politicians influential individuals.

The defence lawyer pleaded with the court for Pinky’s medical examination, claiming she was being tortured in custody.

After hearing both arguments, the court extended Pinky’s physical remand by four days, directing authorities to produce her before the court on May 22.

Pinky was reportedly arrested on May 12 from her apartment in Karachi’s Garden area during a joint raid by police and a civilian intelligence agency.

Authorities said that weapons, cocaine, and other drugs worth around Rs1.5 million were recovered from her possession, adding that she was allegedly running a drug supply network in the port city.

However, the suspect denied the claim, alleging that she was detained in Lahore 15 days before being transferred to Karachi.

During court proceedings on May 13, investigators said that 1,540 grammes of cocaine and 6,970 grammes of raw material were seized during the arrest operation.

The alleged drug queenpin revealed during the initial investigation that she used to pay hundreds of thousands of rupees monthly to different police stations of Karachi as a bribe, sources told Truth Wire.

During preliminary investigation, Pinky revealed that she was involved in the sale of narcotics worth more than Rs20 million per month in Karachi, the sources said.

In a press conference on May 15, Karachi Additional Inspector General (AIG) Azad Khan said that police uncovered foreign involvement in Pinky’s drug network, adding some Lahore-based women were also involved in the ring.

The drug network included six African nationals and female suspects based in Lahore, he said, adding raids were ongoing to apprehend her accomplices.
