While the Duke of Edinburgh heads to the US and Canada, the Duchess of Edinburgh is preparing for an important international engagement of her own, travelling to The Hague on Tuesday 29 September.
Sophie will attend the International Civil Society Action Network (ICAN) Forum in her role as the Royal Family’s Champion for Women, Peace and Security.
The 2026 forum, titled “Security Reimagined,” runs from 29 September to 2 October and will bring together women peacebuilders, policymakers and international figures from conflict- and crisis-affected countries.
ICAN says the gathering will put civil society, particularly women peacebuilders, at the centre of conversations about the future of global security.
The Hague was chosen as the setting for this year’s forum as it marks the 80th anniversary of the International Court of Justice.
It is being hosted by ICAN in partnership with the Municipality of The Hague and Wo=Men.
