Greta Lee got a crash course in Taylor Swift’s creative process — and apparently, the lesson was simple: have an idea, then just make it happen.
The Past Livesstar appeared alongside Swift and several other guests in the singer’s Opalitemusic video, and she’s still impressed by how quickly the whole thing came together.
“Taylor’s amazing,” Lee exclusively told E! Newsalongside her The Last Housecostar Wagner Moura.
“She just had a light bulb idea for a music video she wanted to do, and you see it happen on the actual show during the interview.”
Lee was particularly struck by what happened next.
“Then she just went ahead and brought all of us,” the 43-year-old added, “to be in her video that she wrote and directed herself.”
The ’90s infomercial-style video stars Swift as Lonely Girl, with Lee appearing as Indie Rock Goddess while Domhnall Gleeson, Jodie Turner-Smith, Lewis Capaldi and Cillian Murphy also get their own quirky moments.
Graham Norton even plays an Opalitesalesman.
For Lee, the experience offered more than a fun cameo. As she prepares for her own directorial debut with The Eyes Are the Best Part, she said watching Swift take an idea from spark to finished project left an impression.
“I just have such a tremendous respect for that ability, to put an idea into action and to just do it like that,” she said. “And as a woman, I have a lot of admiration for her.”
Lee is now starring in The Last House with Moura, playing a married couple fighting to protect their children. Moura said their shared experience as parents helped make the relationship feel authentic.
The Last Housepremieres August 7 on Netflix.
