Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez’s long-running co-parenting battle has taken another turn—and it turns out they were already trying to work through their differences in therapy.
The former couple agreed to “co-parenting therapy” in May 2024, according to court documents obtained by People magazine.
The goal was to “resolve disputes and conflicts between them in an effort to successfully co-parent” their son Maceo, now 11.
The arrangement included individual coaching sessions followed by six joint sessions. Berry’s fiancé Van Hunt was also allowed to participate.
But the peace didn’t last.
In August 2024, Berry asked the court to intervene, accusing Martinez of repeatedly violating agreements and court orders. A source subsequently told PEOPLE, “They have very different parenting styles. Co-parenting hasn’t been easy.”
Now, Berry has been ordered to attend court-ordered mediation on Oct. 14 after Martinez sought a temporary restraining order, alleging she caused him “emotional and mental distress due to physical abuse of our minor child, Maceo.” The court granted his request in part and denied it in part.
Berry’s parenting schedule has temporarily changed pending an October 15 hearing.
Her attorney Marina Beck strongly disputed Martinez’s claims, calling the filing “entirely meritless and deliberately misleading.”
“To say this filing is entirely meritless and deliberately misleading would be an understatement,” Beck said, alleging Martinez had repeatedly violated court orders.
Martinez’s attorney Patrick Baghdaserians, meanwhile, said his client’s “paramount concern is the health, welfare and the safety of the minor child.”
He described Martinez as “a loving parent” and said, “Our paramount concern right now is only one real issue, and that’s protecting this great kid.”
