Apple is preparing to roll out iPhone 18 Pro in early September with the first major product event for incoming CEO John Ternus, who is taking over the company on September 1.
As confirmed by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, iPhone 18 is set to be released on September 9 as Apple’s traditional second-week September launch faces a slight adjustment this year as Labour Day falls on Monday, September 7.
There are several factors behind the September launch dates, such as semiconductor provisioning with the help of TSMC as its manufacturing partner, securing transport slots before starting holiday shipping, and coordinating with yearly carrier upgrades. Thanks to its rigidly scheduled autumn launches, Apple is able to maximise its Q4 earnings and meet its growth forecasts on Wall Street.
According to Gurman, the pre-orders might be delayed to avoid the September 11 date, which happens to fall on a Friday this year, which also coincides with the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attack. When it last happened, Apple pushed pre-orders to Saturday. The retail launch is scheduled for September 18.
Meanwhile, reports also confirmed that the iPhone 18 Pro’s flagship colour is a burgundy or dark cherry shade that replaces last year’s popular Cosmic Orange. Other colours include light blue, silver, and a possible dark grey option.
Contrasting reports also stated that the foldable iPhone Ultra will face delays for now, with sources indicating a full release while others predict a restricted launch or October pushback.
