Prince Harry made an appearance on the Joe Marler Will See You Now podcast last month when he had been visiting his home country.
The Duke of Sussex, who was in the middle of scrutiny and criticism at the time, appeared in high spirits and many experts believed that he was showing a glimpse of the ‘old Harry’.
Although, there were certain elements in the interview that many had criticised such as introducing himself as ‘Prince of England’. There was also some speculation about protocols that were in place when Harry or Meghan make an entrance, Joe revealed the truth from behind the scenes and his own experience.
He revealed to The Mirrorthat he was “nervous” about the interview as there are “polarising public opinion” on Harry. Joe added that he was already ‘Team Harry’ but it all cemented it when he actually met him.
“We were in the room waiting for him to arrive, thinking it’s going to be this big event, and he just comes straight in, said, ‘Hi guys, how you doing?’” Joe described his first impression.
“And comes over and hugs me, and then hugs Jake. Within 90 seconds, it was like talking to a normal person so I thought let’s just treat him accordingly, and we did.”
Joe said that he was prepared for any kind of backlash that might come his way which is why he didn’t want that to stop them from “being genuine in the moment”.
