Prince Harry’s shock announcement to return to his home country could be the result of a concerning matter, which requires him to stay close by to his family.
It was revealed that the Sussexes, who intend to keep their Montecito and Portugal homes, are moving back for an “extended period” in a non-royal private residence. While the news comes as a shock, King Charles has “welcomed” the decision.
However, according to a former Palace aide, who has worked for Charles for nearly a decade, suggested that this could be a concerning sign.
The King has been undergoing cancer treatment for the past two years since his diagnosis and has expressed his desire to be close to his grandchildren. Former Royal Butler Grant Harrold said that while he always knew the Sussexes would return eventually but he didn’t expect it to be this soon.
“It was almost as if there was a rush, but it was obviously pre-planned,” he said during a GB News broadcast. “And while he was here, he was obviously that was one of the things he was doing was going to visit the school that his children were going to go to.”
Grant noted that it was “very strange” that Harry has publicly spoken about not knowing how much time his father has got left but it’s possible that the recent visit only pushed him to take the decision.
“[Harry] wants to be near [his father], so he’s there. Because the thing I’ve always said, Harry and his father were always very, very, very close. They were really close, and there was always this bond between the two of them, and with William, and maybe genuinely its someone he misses,” he explained.
Moreover, Harry does not want to regret missing the time he could’ve spent with his father. And given how the news of his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II’s death came to him, it is likely that he wants to stay close as to not be disregarded.
