King Charles III and Queen Camilla have embraced the full Scottish spirit as they arrived at the 2026 Braemar Gathering on Saturday.
The annual Highland Games, held at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park near Balmoral, is one of the most anticipated fixtures of the royal couple’s Scottish summer.
Charles is Patron of the Braemar Royal Highland Society, his mood appeared to lighten later in the day, when he and Camilla were spotted sharing smiles and laughter.
The King also presented trophies to the winners, while Camilla took time to chat with a young girl who had participated in the opening dance.
For the occasion, Queen Camilla was wearing a rich forest-green tailored coat, fastened with distinctive red-and-green buttons.
Beside her, King Charles leaned fully into Highland style, wearing a brown-and-cream checked tweed suit with a matching waistcoat and crisp shirt.
The King expected to receive new Prime Minister Andy Burnham at Balmoral for the first time.
Burnham became Prime Minister in July, succeeding Sir Keir Starmer after the former Labour leader stepped down..
