King Charles has been mindful of the distress of his eldest son, Prince William, while speeding up reconciliation efforts with Prince Harry.
It has been claimed that tensions are heating up behind Palace walls between the monarch and the future King.
The Prince of Wales is seemingly not ready to trust the Sussexes again after their back-to-back ‘ attacks’ on the monarchy.
Despite his reservations, the King hosted Harry, Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet at Highgrove, a major step towards reconciliation.
Speaking of the situation, royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror, “There’s no doubt that Charles would very much like things to be different. And it does seem as if Harry is pretty intent on patching up his troubled relationship with his father.
“Do you remember his almost Shakespearean plea to his sons: ‘Please don’t make my final years a misery?’ But it’s still a question of baby steps, and Harry’s life remains thousands of miles away in California.”
Jennie said that the King has been walking a tightrope throughout his life, but that was for his diplomatic role.
Now, it is his family and his sons who are not even on speaking terms with each other.
The King has been trying to make a careful move to avoid upsetting William and, side by side, make peace with Harry.
