Nearly two years after Liam Payne’s heartbreaking death, the questions surrounding his final moments are still making headlines.
The former One Directionsinger died on October 16, 2024, after falling from the third-floor balcony of a Buenos Aires hotel at age 31.
Now, a major legal development has shifted the focus of the ongoing investigation.
Liam’s close friend Roger Nores, along with two hotel employees, has reportedly been cleared of criminal charges after facing allegations connected to the singer’s death.
“There is no chance that Nores will be brought back into the case. The court was clear in its ruling that cleared him of any criminal wrongdoing,” Nores’ attorney said.
“Roger never had the duty of caring for Payne, much less caring for his addictions.”
While those charges have been dismissed, two other men, Ezequiel Pereya and Braian Paiz, are still facing allegations that they supplied Liam with drugs before his death.
Official toxicology findings previously confirmed cocaine, alcohol and a prescription antidepressant were found in Liam’s system before his fatal fall.
Investigators later suggested he may have fallen while unconscious, rather than intentionally jumping.
“Due to the position in which the body was found and the injuries from the fall, it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflexive posture to protect himself and may have fallen in a state of semi or total unconsciousness,” the report stated.
Away from the courteoom, Liam’s former partner Cheryl is facing another emotional challenge: protecting their son Bear’s future.
The nine-year-old is reportedly the sole beneficiary of Liam’s estimated £21.7 million estate.
Sources claim Cheryl is concerned about her son inheriting such wealth at a young age and is exploring ways to ensure he remains grounded.
