The lone holdout juror, who refused to find Lindsay Clancy not criminally responsible for killing her three children, has broken his silence, saying he never doubted his decision.
Michael Desronvil was the one juror who wasn’t ready to find Lindsay Clandy not-responsible for killing her children as the trial ended without a verdict earlier this month.
The other 11 jurors were prepared to find the Massachusetts mother not criminally responsible.
In an interview with CBS News, Desronvil said: “I didn’t have any doubts,” adding that the physical evidence, witness testimony and the prosecution’s case convinced him that Clancy understood what she was doing.
He believed the killings were planned.
His side of the story is important because other members of the jury have described what happened inside the deliberation room very differently.
The jury spent nearly 40 hours trying to reach a verdict before Judge William Sullivan declared a mistrial on September 4, 2026.
Clancy, 36, admitted killing her three children: Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and eight-month-old Callan, at their Duxbury home in January 2023.
What the jury had to decide was whether she was criminally responsible when she did it.
Her lawyers argued that Clancy was suffering from postpartum psychosis and could not understand the nature or wrongfulness of her actions. Prosecutors maintained that she knew exactly what she was doing.
Juror Paula Devlin said the panel wasn’t always split 11-1.
He said attempts to explain his thinking were sometimes cut off and interpreted by the other jurors as evidence that he had doubts.
The mistrial means Clancy’s case is still not over.
Prosecutors have yet to announce whether they will put her on trial again, while her attorney Kevin Reddington has said he hopes an agreement can be reached without going through a second trial.
Clancy is due back in court on September 29.
