Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are understood to be in the middle of a reconciliation with King Charles, nearly six years after the feud split the family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the UK for the first time together as a family last month so that the monarch could meet Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The meeting, which was a private gathering, was acknowledged by the Buckingham Palace but the details are strictly kept a secret.
Following the reunion, it was anticipated that Meghan would get a nod from the King’s Office on her birthday since it is a milestone 45th. Royal tradition dictates that even for non-working royal members, a public birthday greeting would be issued on milestone birthdays.
Prince Harry got it for his 40th but Meghan’s 45th was completely ignored on Tuesday. According to a royal and foreign policy commentator, Lee Cohen, this was a clear indicator and that it would be wise that Meghan shouldn’t get her hopes up for a royal comeback.
“She brought endless drama, grievance and attention-seeking to an institution built on duty, discretion and service, casting a shadow over the final years of the beloved late Queen,” he told Express UK.
“Rather than embracing the privilege she was given, she chose profit and publicity over loyalty, and in doing so incinerated every bridge behind her.”
Meghan and Harry have spoken publicly about their grievances with the royal family in interviews and their Netflix docuseries. Meghan has often described her experience has being “traumatic” and indicated that she had no interest for a return.
Even if she has changed her mind, Lee said that Meghan no longer should be given a way back.
“Another chance? The only thing she deserves is permanent exile from the family she insulted so despicably.”
