NASCAR has announced disciplinary actions against seven people for fighting at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Two of the people involved in the assault on 23XI Racing driver Corey Heim (team owner Chad Bryant and crew member Steven Civitarese) have been placed on indefinite suspension from NASCAR events.
They were also barred from next year’s ValleyStar Credit Union 300, which is recognised as the most prestigious late-model stock-car race in the sport.
Bryant, owner of Chad Bryant Racing, drew a $2,000 fine, while Civitarese was fined $1,000.
Ryden Lapceivch, brother of driver Treyton Lapcevich, was also fined $500 for their involvement in the post-race scuffle with Heim.
NASCAR also placed all seven people involved in the fight on a one-year probation.
NASCAR, in a statement on Tuesday, September 26, referenced NASCAR Rule Book sections 12-6.1C & 12-6.1C2, which relate to member-to-member confrontations with physical violence.
The scuffle took place at Martinsville Speedway on Saturday night after reportedly Treyton Lapcevich got upset with how Heim raced him.
After cars parked on the pit road, Bryant, along with two other crew members from the team, attacked Heim near Martinsville’s iconic infield hot dog stand.
However, Heim escaped most of the punches, and after leaving Martinsville, he shared a selfie with a thumbs up on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read, “Solid efforts, but at least make it count next time.”
The fight lasted about 20 seconds before Henry County Sheriff’s deputies stepped in and stopped it, and then Heim walked back to his team’s hauler.
