Reports indicate that Netflix is currently down due to some type of service failure impacting many users around the world.
Data from outage tracking sites indicates that Netflix experienced a reported outage starting at 19:10 UTC (Coordinated Universal Time) on Monday and was continuing as of my writing.
Reports are approximately 7.3x greater than normal for this time of day. Many of the problems being reported include server and connectivity problems, along with network problems.
The U.S. and UK were most impacted with 25% of all reports coming from both of those countries. Canada had the third highest number of reports with 6%. All other countries combined made up less than 50% of all the remaining reports.
Other tracking services also support the fact that Netflix was having outages. Status Tracker, which tracks issues related to entire web applications, tracked an additional 142 reports about issues over the last 24 hours, including 15 reports within the last hour.
According to their data, users who were experiencing the issues described them as “degraded performance”, which means the service would operate slowly or erratically rather than not working at all.
StatusGator, another site that monitors application availability indicated that they saw reports of the Netflix app freezing/crashing and content loading incorrectly. They found the top three areas where people were reporting these types of issues were the UK, California, and Florida.
As of now, Netflix has not publicly acknowledged these reported incidents. The Help Netflix page status shows: “We are not currently experiencing an interruption to our streaming service.”
