The San Francisco 49ers fullback Kyle Jusczyk’s mock beer chugging celebration cost him a fine of $14,926 by the NFL on Thursday, September 24, 2026.
The NFL, describing the celebration as “engaging in offensive demonstrations,” said the 49ers Juszczyk had violated Rule 12, section 3, Article 1, when he did an “imitation of chugging a beer” with just under eight minutes left in the third quarter of the 49ers’ win against the Miami Dolphins.
But what Jusczyk did after hearing he was fined by the NFL stunned many.
Jusczyk took to his X (formerly Twitter) and clapped back against the fine before holding a short, three-minute media session at his locker room following practice on Thursday, September 24.
Jusczyk retweeted the post of journalist Adam Schefter with a caption that reads, “Can’t make this stuff up…”
Before speaking with the media, Jusczyk set up a prop: a jug with “Not Beer” and put one of his thigh pads, featuring a juice box graphic, which he placed behind him as a backdrop for the interview.
“I don’t know how else to say it. I wasn’t drinking beer in my celebration. I think you guys all know my nickname is Juice,” Jusczyk said.
While providing context to the mock celebration, he added, “I have juice on my pads. The stadium yells ‘Juice’ when I catch the ball.
When I celebrate, I celebrate by drinking juice, and it’s been that way for years. I was as surprised as anybody when I got a fine.”
The NFL notice said, “Players are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that reflects positively on the game and is consistent with NFL standards of sportsmanship.”
However, Jusczyk has challenged the fine in conjunction with a previous appeal for a Week 1 fine of $20,033 for overly aggressive play and leading with his helmet against the Los Angeles Rams.
Jusczyk is expected to appear for the hearing for both fines on Tuesday, September 29, 2026.
