Norway’s Royal Family has rallied around King Harald as he remains in hospital after his health deteriorated over the weekend.
Crown Prince Haakon drove to the National Hospital shortly before 4pm on Wednesday after attending a drill display earlier in the day.
He was later joined by his brother, Prince Sverre Magnus, and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who arrived at the hospital a short time afterwards.
Prince Sverre Magnus left again shortly afterwards, while Queen Sonja arrived shortly before 5pm to be at her husband’s side.
The visits come after the Royal House revealed on Sunday that the 89-year-old monarch’s condition had worsened over the weekend and that he had developed a bacterial infection in his blood.
King Harald is receiving antibiotics and has responded to the treatment, according to the Palace. He remains on sick leave until further notice, with Crown Prince Haakon continuing to serve as Regent in his place.
The King was initially admitted to the National Hospital on August 17 after receiving cortisone treatment for hemolytic anaemia.
The condition, which causes red blood cells to be destroyed faster than the body can replace them, had resulted in fluid accumulation requiring hospital treatment.
King Harald was hospitalised in Tenerife in February after developing an infection and becoming dehydrated.
