Olivia Rodrigo’s journey into a musician was heavily inspired by watching her peer Gracie Abrams write and record songs in her bedroom by herself.
The 23-year-old pop superstar recently sat down for an interview with Abrams, where they talked about their craft together and their shared admiration for each other’s work.
Days later, the drop deadhitmaker praised the That’s So True hitmaker for following her creative spirit independent of the equipment she had around.
Rodrigo noted, “It kind of made me feel like, ‘Oh, I can do that too.’ You know what I mean? You don’t need some big fancy setup or some fancy studio to do something that inspires you.”
Following the interview, fans flocked to the comments and wrote, “This girl has been watching gracie’s IG livestreams since she was 14 yrs old. Olivia probably would have gone into acting full time if it weren’t for gracie inspiring her to write songs about her own life. i’ll give you your 8s gracie.”
Another applauded, “Bedroom videos to sold-out arenas,” and “Great reminder that big dreams can start in a small bedroom,” chimed in another.
While one wrote, “cheers to both growing successful together.”
