King Charles’ office issued a new statement after Prince William’s lead role was confirmed.
On September 7, the official Royal Family social media account shared details about the monarch’s outing in Aberdeenshire on Saturday, accompanied by lively photos.
Palace stated, “Over the weekend, The King and Queen attended the Braemar Gathering at the Princess Royal and Duke of Fife Memorial Park in Aberdeenshire.
“Held on the first Saturday of September every year, the Gathering features events including tug-of-war, caber toss, hammer throw, Highland dancing and a parade of pipe bands.”
This update follows the confirmation that Prince William will represent the King and the royal family at a solemn event.
On her X account, royal expert Rebecca English penned, “The Prince of Wales will represent His Majesty at the funeral of King Harald V of Norway on Wednesday.
“It is usual precedent for the sovereign not to attend funerals of other Heads of State. The Princess Royal will additionally attend in a private and personal capacity as godmother to King Haakon VIII.”
